Mary Ann Ditto, 88, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 10, 2019. She died from complications from a fall she suffered in February.
Ann was born January 13, 1931, in Italy, to Hub and Edna Grace Ward. She grew up with her siblings, Maxine Davis, Janice Ward, Clay Ward and Elizabeth Ward and graduated with the Italy High School Class of 1948. Shortly after graduating she met the love of her life, Richard H. "Jake" Ditto. They married June 5th, 1948 and spent the next 43 years together along with their children, Dr. Richard Keith Ditto, Debra Ditto and Lisa Hahn.
Ann loved butterflies, fishing, playing the piano, attending fiddling contests, arts and crafts, and taking care of her family. She was a faithful member of the Bardwell United Methodist Church.
Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Jake; her mother and father, Edna Grace and Hub Ward; brother, Clay Ward; sister, Maxine Davis and daughter in law, Sallie Ditto. Surviving her are two sisters, Janice Ward and Elizabeth Ward of Killeen; children, Keith Ditto of Ft. Worth; Debra Ditto of Friendswood and Lisa Hahn of Italy. She is also survived by grandchildren, Shawn Fleming (wife Lisa), Jana Taylor (husband Scott), Geoffrey Ditto, and Shelley Dwyer (husband Vinny).
Ann was the longest living breast cancer survivor in Ellis County. She donated her body to the University of Texas Southwestern Methodist Medical Center, Willed Body Program.
A celebration of her life will be held on March 30 at 11:00 am at the Bardwell United Methodist Church.
