On Friday, February 8, 2019, Helen Johnson, loving mother and devoted grandmother, passed away at the age of 78. Helen was born September of 1940 in rural Sullivan County, Missouri to Van and Thelma Hayes.

Helen had a larger than life spirit. She was always on-the-go, never stopping or slowing down. She is known for her quick wit, infectious smile, delicious food, positive outlook on life, sense of humor, craft projects, and her kind and compassionate heart.

On game days, you could guarantee that she was in the living room shouting and rooting for either the Dallas Cowboys or Texas Rangers. On her average days, you could catch her on her back patio or recliner with her matching chihuahuas, Tish and Mia.

She was preceded in death by parents; her son, Michael (Mike) Johnson; three brothers, Gary Hayes, Robert Dean (Bob) Hayes, and William (Bill) Hayes; three sisters, Phyllis Oldham, Betty Mullenix, and Doris Harding.

She is survived by son, Kris Johnson of Waxahachie, Texas; only granddaughter, Brittany (Brandon) Mathews of Red Oak, Texas; 2 brothers, Larry (Joyce) Hayes of Milan, Missouri and Edwin Hayes of Milan Missouri; 9 sisters, Dora Mae James of Hughesville, Missouri; Sandra Sinclair, of Trenton, Missouri; Lorna (Franklin) Bywaters of Donna, Texas; Carroll Franklin of Chillicothe, Missouri; Sherry (Paul) Oder of Chillicothe, Missouri; Patty (Ronnie) Banner of Milan, Missouri; Jane (Joe) Anderson of Milan, Missouri; Kathy (Jim) Rogers of Gallatin, Missouri; and Jackie (Roger) Hoover of Chillicothe, Missouri and as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

All whom loved her dearly and will never forget her tenacity, wit, charm, grace, priceless values and life lessons, and undying love and caring for them.
