Lawrence “Larry” M. Zuber, 83, passed away Saturday morning, January 19, 2019, at Cedar Bluff Assisted Living of Mansfield, Texas where he and Rose, his wife of 62 years, have lived for the last two years.

Lawrence, born April 14, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan, was the son of the late Eugene and Vilena (MacDonald) Zuber. Lawrence married Rosetta Odom on September 8, 1956, after dating in high school and college. Lawrence attended Florida State University from 1952 to 1956 and graduated with a BA in Personnel Management & Psychology. After graduation, Lawrence started at J.C. Penney in their management training program. He then moved into a career in life and health insurance. He began his career with CNA Insurance as an underwriter and subsequently became an agent specializing in life, health and disability insurance for medical practices. After spending over 25 years with C.N.A. in Florida, Illinois and Texas, Lawrence accepted a position as VP of Marketing at The Stedman Insurance Group in Sarasota, Florida for 15 years.

Lawrence was born Roman Catholic and very active in the church as an altar boy starting at age 5. He and his wife Rose became members of the Episcopal Church in college and Lawrence spent many years serving in various capacities for the church including roles on the vestry and as a lay reader up until he was 81.

Lawrence was in the Special Forces as a Green Beret in the Army Reserves for a decade in the late 50s to mid-60s. He enjoyed marksmanship, golf, boating, camping, acting in the theatre and playing bridge with his friends and family.

Lawrence and Rose moved several times throughout their insurance careers and moved back to Texas to be close to their only grandchild, Zachary.

Surviving family members include his wife Rosetta (Rose) Odom Zuber, two of his four children: Kathryn Marie Zuber Barker and her husband Michael Barker of Denver, Colorado, Teresa Marie Zuber Banks and her husband John Banks of Venus, Texas, one grandchild, Zachary Lawrence Weaver, his wife, Madison Weaver of Dallas, Texas and his loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two of his daughters Rosetta Marie Zuber and Christina Marie Zuber.

A Celebration of Life service will take place at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 624 Ovilla Rd, Waxahachie, TX 75167 at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2019. A reception will follow afterward at the church.
