A strong offensive showing the first half lifted the Waxahachie Runnin' Indians to district road victory Tuesday against Mansfield Summit.
The Runnin' Indians 57-51 victory also saw the return of Demani Richardson, who was a crucial member of last season's nationally-ranked squad, especially in the full-court press.
Richardson scored 12 points on 6-of-6 shooting while accounting for three assists and three steals in his return from a knee injury suffered during football season,
Sophomore guard CJ Noland once again led the Runnin' Indians in the scoring column with 14 points. He also collected a team-high six rebounds.
JT Warren added 13 points, five rebounds and three steals, while Mekai Pope finished with nine points.
Da'maraie Watkins (5 points), BJ Francis (2) and Preston Hodge (2) rounded out the Runnin' Indians offensive attack.
Waxahachie shot 75 percent (18-24) from inside the arc during the victory.
Waxahachie improved to 3-3 in District 7-6A with the win Tuesday in Mansfield, which has the Runnin' Indians tied with Mansfield and Grand Prairie for third and fourth place in the standings.
The Runnin' Indians return to action at 7:30 p.m. Friday at home against South Grand Prairie (2-4 in 7-6A) for the final game of the first round of the district slate.
