Seven weeks after Three Rivers Coffee opened, the store owners cut a celebratory Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce ribbon.

Chris and Lorena Richie are eight-year Waxahachie residents that moved to the Gingerbread Capital from Alaska. The couple has incorporated the Alaskan culture into each cup of joe.

The location officially opened on Black Friday and Lorena shared that foot traffic in the door has been significant.

"Leading up to Christmas we had so many gift card sales and that was super awesome knowing that it was going to be passed along to other people," said Lorena outside the coffee shop doors.

The coffee house is coming together with more art on the walls and a full seating area with a small bar, couches for casual seating and several tables for small groups to meet. Artwork from local artists rotates on the walls and is available for purchase. The day of the ribbon cutting, the owners received the last of the chairs.

From this experience, Lorena learned to "Be grateful for the community you're in. It wouldn't be possible without — well I don't know most of these people. it wouldn't be possible without them."

"It's exciting and I get we reached that milestone," Lorena noted.
