As the district schedule flips to the second half, the Red Oak Lady Hawks are beginning to click on all cylinders.
And they are still perched atop the District 14-5A standings with a perfect 6-0 mark following Friday's home win against Waco University.
The Lady Hawks had the game well in hand by halftime and cruised home to a perfect district start, 61-33.
The win also improved the state-ranked Lady Hawks to 22-5 on the season.
"We played well. We played well," Red Oak head girls' basketball coach Darren Eubanks said. "I think this might have been the best game we have played all year."
When asked how he felt about the perfect run through the first half of district play, Eubanks said, "It's a great feeling, but we do have to go back around one more time. We still have a lot of work to do."
Micah Cooper, Breanna Davis and Aliyah Harden all led the way for the Lady Hawks in the scoring department with 11 points.
Ariel Warren added 10 points, while Markeya Mack had eight, Aniyah Johnson chipped in six, Makaila Glaster-Brown added two and Aziya Wilson and Katera Mays both scored one.
"I feel like we are in shape and [Waco University] quit in the fourth quarter," Eubanks added. "We are going to keep working on our conditioning and see if we can outlast people."
Waco University was led by Lyric McGowan's game-high 17 points.
Eubanks credited Johnson with playing "extremely well" in the post against McGowan.
Red Oak returns to action at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Jeff D. Cody Gymnasium in Cleburne.
The Lady Hawks previously defeated the Lady Yellowjackets, 55-43, on Dec. 11.
