Vernon Wayne Turner, “Wayne”, died peacefully in his sleep in Waxahachie, TX on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at the age of 81 after a six-year battle with Myasthenia gravis.

He is survived by his wife Debbie Eiland Turner; children, Kathleen Markwardt (Gary), Rebecca DeRosa (Mike), Mark Turner (Kristy); brother, Phillip Turner (Caroline); sister, Linda Rivas; grandchildren, Aaron, Lora, David, Brian, Eric, Karoline, Emma; step-granddaughter, Kirsten; great-grandson, Parker, two nieces, two nephews, one grandniece and 3 grandnephews.

Wayne will be remembered for many things in his life, owner of L. L. Flowers Construction of Hillsboro, Brown County Republican Party Chairman and Alternate Delegate to the 2000 and 2004 National Convention. After he married Debbie in 1986 he joined in with her competition chili cooking hobby as a showman. They traveled a little overseas, to all 50 states and half of the Canadian Provinces mostly in an RV, often stopping at chili cookoffs along the way, gathering memories and friends. He was called the Hug Therapist, dispensing hugs to all. People remember his smile, hugs, positive attitude and outrageous stunts for attention.

Per his request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. As typical for him, he did not want people to travel to a funeral to honor him. He wanted people to talk to him before he died, not afterward at a funeral. His wish was to live on in the memories of his family and friends and have them share some of his stories.
