Red Oak Police detectives are searching for Harvey Glenn Sowels II, 25, in connection with at least two purse-snatching incidents at the Red Oak Walmart.
In order to expedite the arrest, the department released a video on Thursday, Dec. 20 of the two incidents as well as a clip of the believed holiday grinch.
In the first incident, which took place Thursday, Nov. 29, Sowels can be seen driving the wrong way through the Walmart parking lot in a silver passenger vehicle. He then reaches into one of the victim’s shopping carts without ever exiting the car and, after swiping the purse, Sowels speeds away from the scene as the victim chases after on foot.
A similar incident took place Wednesday, Dec. 12 — this time while the victim was unloading groceries into their trunk. The same vehicle once again drives up from behind and snatched the victim’s purse without exiting the car.
Following the Dec. 12 theft, a third video released by the Red Oak Police Department shows Sowels attempt to use the stolen credit card or cards at the Target and DTLR in the Wheatland Town Crossing shopping center in Dallas.
Sowels is believed to be the suspect in both offenses. Store surveillance caught him on-camera as he exited the store.
On Dec. 27, the Red Oak Police Department Criminal Investigative Division obtained an arrest warrant for Sowels for his alleged involvement in theft of property less than $2,500 with two previous convictions. Sowels currently remains at large with an active arrest warrant.
