Arby’s will return to Waxahachie shortly after the New Year.
After a previous location closed at 140 N Highway 77, Arby’s is planned to reopen in Waxahachie at 1680 Dallas Highway just after the calendar turns to 2019. Economic Development Coordinator Kassandra Carroll said the building was previously owned by the chicken franchise, El Pollo Loco before it closed.
“They’ve already filed permitting with the city to go in there and are working on that now,” Carroll said. “As soon as they’re finished with that, they’ll be ready to open the doors.”
According to a press release, Arby’s is a fast-food chain that specializes in roast beef deli sandwiches. QSR Magazine ranked Arby’s third in total revenue out of the top 50 fast-food sandwich chains in America, with over 3,000 locations open across the nation. Earlier this year, Arby’s bought the sports bar chain Buffalo Wild Wings for $2.9 billion and re-branded itself as Inspire Brands Inc., according to Nation's Restaurant News.
Carroll said the new location doesn’t require any new zoning so it will be a quick transition from El Pollo Loco to Arby’s.
“Once they get that Arby’s back, that shopping center will be completely filled in,” she said.
Carroll said the new Arby’s location is expected to open after the holiday season.
