Glenn Heights Police, Fire and Office of Community Engagement have joined forces to bring cheer to residents going through a rough time during the holidays.
The City of Glenn Heights has launched its Season of Service campaign, an effort to assist residents in need by providing meals and toys for families this holiday season.
On Tuesday, Dec. 11, the Christmas tree lighting will take place at Heritage Community Park in 400 E. Bear Creek Road, where Santa Claus will ride through the neighborhood at 3 p.m. to rally residents toward the Christmas tree. The event will feature pony rides and pictures with jolly old Saint Nicholas himself.
On Saturday, Dec. 15 and 22, Dollar General will present the Santa Cop annual toy drive to assist residents with gift collections. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon both days at the Glenn Heights address at 604 East Bear Creek Road.
Lastly, the Office of Community Engagement launched the “Nominate a Neighbor” meal program during Thanksgiving and provided meals to five households. The city staff hopes to add five additional families for its Christmas program and is looking for nominations online at the city website.
