Aly Bhagat’s dream is to make the new Fuzzy’s Taco Shop in Red Oak a place people can call a second home as they enjoy a meal or relax and watch the big game on the big screen.
The new restaurant is under construction at this time and is set to open in mid-December.
“What I am trying to do with Fuzzy’s is to make it a neighborhood spot. We put in bigger TVs in the place. We put in a full separate bar so that people can come and hang out,” Bhagat said. “We want our dining experience to last a couple of hours. We want you to come in and watch a game, have a birthday party, or just hang out. As opposed to you getting your food and then within 30 minutes you’re out.”
Bhagat stated that, while the restaurant is smaller than other locations, what it has to offer customers more than makes up for it. Some of the features include a large patio area that can accommodate about 50 people and an indoor-and-outdoor bar.
“Each restaurant is very different. Fuzzy’s does not tell you that your store does not need to look like this or that. They don’t give you any of those requirements,” Bhagat explained. “For example in our Red Oak location, it is mostly going to be stained wood and dark metal fixtures. We are going to have some wood on the walls. We are going to have a lot of decor that makes you feel like you’re at home.”
Bhagat also notes she takes pride in the food that comes out of the kitchen, as everything is made in-house from scratch and served promptly. She explained it takes about eight minutes from the time an order is placed for the food to be served.
“I love to figure out every aspect of Fuzzy’s operations such as learning how to make the salsas. It is very difficult because you have to roast all of the veggies on the grill,” Bhagat said. “I love the fact that we can offer an excellent price and know at the same time we are putting everything fresh into our food.”
Bhagat stated corporate officials listen to customer’s suggestions and often provides the owners the freedom to keep items on the menu that people like and enjoy.
“Fuzzy’s, from a corporate perspective, is always coming up with new ideas that I love. They have these limited time offers from what customers are asking for,” Bhagat said. “Our current idea right now is called Corn Utopia. They have introduced roasted corn into a lot of our offerings and Poblano peppers. We have many customers asking for it.”
Along with the food it serves, Fuzzy’s works to give back to the community.
“We are starting to reach out to members of the local communities, Red Oak High School, the chamber of commerce and the city council,” Bhagat said. “We are really excited about doing our part. Red Oak is a strong community, so we are excited about putting our footprint on that and being involved with the community.”
When Fuzzy’s Taco Shop opens it looks to be open from 7:30 a.m. – 10 p.m. Monday –Wednesday, 7:30 a.m. – 11 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, and 9 a.m. -10 p.m. Sunday. No official grand opening date has been set at this time.
