Oklahoma Panhandle State University spoiled the home finale for the Southwestern Assemblies of God University football team Saturday at Stuart B. Lumpkins Stadium, 35-20.

SAGU fell to 5-4 on the season and 4-3 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The Lions are now in third place in the SAC standings.

SAGU running back Stephon Free tied the game at 14-all with an 85-yard run and 7:04 left in the second quarter.

The Aggies then made a few offensive adjustments, which led to three consecutive touchdowns. OPSU quarterback Martez Vrana had one touchdown in the air to Kyzen Hudson and one on the ground in the third quarter. Running back Carlos Ransburgh added the third score as the Aggies ate a lot of clock during the series and controlled the football for most of the second half.

With one second left on the clock, Free added another touchdown for the 35-20 final score. He had 120 rushing yards and two total touchdowns.

SAGU quarterback CJ Collins was 22-of-41 for 218 yards through the air with a touchdown to Jeremy Carr, who finished with 11 receptions for 129 yards.

Landon Jones had another 20-plus tackle game with 13 solo tackles and 10 tackle-assists. He also added one tackle-for-loss. Keandre Belcher (11) and Gus Wright (10) also landed in double-digit tackles for the Lions. Sean Minshew led SAGU with two tackles-for-loss and four total tackles.

The Lions end the regular season on the road against fourth-place Arizona Christian University.

ACU has lost three games in a row to Ottawa, Langston, and OPSU with their final games being against SAGU and Wayland Baptist the following Saturday. This game will kick off at 7 pm in Phoenix, AZ.
