Local minister Brandon Hixson's new album, “seasons,” will be available for digital download this Saturday. Hixson is the worship pastor at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Ennis, as well as the lead singer and sax player for Racing Gravity.
"Seasons" was written and produced by Hixson, who spent the last year writing and recording for the project.
“I am really excited about this album. I have collaborated with some wonderful songwriters and have worked with so many talented musicians to help create a beautiful recording that I hope people will love as much as I do,” Hixson said. “After I graduated in May with my master's degree from Dallas Baptist University, I decided to plug the long, extra hours I had been using to study and write research papers into scoring and recording new songs for the church and this new album.”
The album features some of Hixson’s favorite songs that he has written. One song, in particular, is a ballad called “Autumn Fall,” which was written for Hixson’s mother, Pat Hixson, who passed away from cancer. Country music artist Sylvia Hutton and vocalist Melissa Manchester have praised the song for its hauntingly poignant delivery.
Hixson dedicated the song “The Miracle” to his grandmother, Virginia Hixson, for her love for life and Dolly Parton. The song caught the attention of Parton, who responded to Hixson stating, “That Brandon’s Memaw sounds like my kind of broad. I know she is having a ball in heaven knowing she has her own song.”
"Seasons" features several songs written and recorded by members of the Tabernacle Worship Team. The song “Season of Grace” was written by Hixson and worship team members Alan and Shannon Eddins. The Christmas song, “Morning Star of Bethlehem” was written by Hixson and Eva Wilson and performed by the worship team. Christian Copyright Licensing International currently promotes the song as “I Come to You.”
In April, the Independent Music Awards nominated Hixson in Contemporary for his 2017 project “Here is My Heart” in the category of Best Album. The Christian Copyright Licensing International has also issued licenses to two of Hixson’s songs and sheet music. They have arranged three of Hixson's compositions on their site. Hixson has scored two compositions for independent films, and several of his music videos have been featured on television and cable stations across North and South America. His YouTube channels have more than 20 million views.
"Seasons" will be available on all digital media platforms, including CD Baby, iTunes, and Amazon. If people want a CD, they will be made available upon request.
