Homecoming festivities kicked off earlier this week for Waxahachie ISD and several honor classes have a weekend full of gatherings planned.
Friday, October 26
Homecoming Parade - 2 p.m.
The 2018 Waxahachie HS Homecoming parade will follow the traditional route that begins in front of the Waxahachie Post Office, located at 316 N. College Street. This year's parade begins at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26.
Approximate times for the arrival of the parade are — 2:05 p.m. at the corner of Rogers and MLK (Rogers Hotel) — 2:10 p.m. at the corner of MLK and Ferris (NAPA Auto) — 2:25 at Ferris and Marvin (CVS Pharmacy) — and 2:30 at the intersection of Marvin and N. College.
Honor classes may also join the festivities by entering a float in the Homecoming parade. Visit www.wisd.org for info on entry forms, route and mandatory meetings.
Homecoming Game - 7:30 p.m.
Pre-game activities begin at 7 p.m. with kick-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The Indian football team hosts Grand Prairie at 7:30 p.m. at Stuart B. Lumpkins Stadium.
There are several tailgating sites for alumni and fans prior to the game. Honor classes wishing to sit together should contact the WHS Ex-Students Association at info@WaxahachieExStudents.org.
Saturday, October 27
Alumni Tour of WHS High School - 9:00 a.m.
Join fellow Alumni and tour the new high school.
Homecoming Luncheon - 11:30 a.m.
All WHS alumni and their guests are invited to attend the WHS Ex-Students' Association Annual Membership Meeting and Luncheon at the Global High Cafeteria at 275 Indian Drive, just across from the old high school (now Coleman Jr. High).
Tickets to the event are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
CLASS OF 1968
The Class of 1968 is celebrating its 50th-year reunion.
The weekend begins Friday with lunch at 11:30 a.m. at College Street Pub (Dutch Treat) and then a ride on the homecoming float. Classmates should meet at 1:30 p.m. across from Central Presbyterian Church. There will then be a casual gathering from 7:30—11:30 p.m. at Ellis County Title Co., located at 408 Ferris Avenue, with light snacks and soft drinks provided (BYOB).
On Saturday, the class will meet at 2 p.m. for a class picture in front of the old high school (now Wilemon STEAM Academy) and then take a guided tour of the new high school at 2:30 p.m. There will then be a gathering at the Optimist Youth Center from 6—11 p.m. that includes dinner, DJ and photo booth. Cost for the Saturday party is $50 per person. WHS ex-students from other classes are welcome to join, beginning at 8 p.m. (BYOB).
CLASS OF 1973
The Class of 1973 will host a gathering from 7 p.m. — midnight Saturday at the Fountains Venue on Rockett Road.
CLASS OF 1978
The Class of 1978 will have a float in Friday's parade and a section at the football game to sit together. After the football game, the group will meet at Big Al's in downtown Waxahachie to catch up.
On Saturday, the class will gather at Lyle Barn, located at 467 Cunningham Meadows, at 7 p.m. Event cost is $25 per person.
The class will also partake in a Sunday morning worship at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, located at 725 Perry Avenue, with the class' own Will Cavitt.

CLASS OF 1983
The Class of 1983 will have a float in Friday's parade and a section at the football game to sit together. After the football game, the group will meet after the game at Lucy & Gary Thompson's house.

The Class of 1993 will have a float in Friday's parade and a section at the football game to sit together.
The class will also meet from 8 p.m.—midnight Friday at The Fountains Venue, located at 4241 FM 813 in Waxahachie (casual, BYOB).

CLASS OF 1998
