The options for financial services will soon expand with a recent land purchase by Community National Bank and Trust of Texas.
The bank plans to open a full-service branch in Waxahachie in 2019 and will be located in a portion of the Victory Park shopping center on U.S. Highway 77 that is under development north of U.S. Highway 287 and before Butcher Road.
Alfred Vega, senior vice president and senior credit officer, stated it has always been the goal of Community National Bank to open up a full-service location to serve residents and visitors in Waxahachie. At this time, Community operates a loan production office on Main Street in the downtown Waxahachie business district.
“We have 14 full-service locations that go all over the North Texas area. The closest one is in Red Oak. Waxahachie is a market that we have identified as a high growth market. It is important to us,” Vega said. “The city continues to grow and the loan production office is a temporary step before opening a full-service branch here.”
According to the Community National Bank website, the bank-and-trust offers personal banking services such as checking and savings accounts, as well as loans. They also have a full range of fiduciary services that include investment management, trust services, estate settlement, and rollover IRA accounts. The new branch looks to add about 10 new jobs.
Vega stated the personal service that Community National Bank provides customers who walk through their doors separates them from other banks.
“We just don’t do commercial and residential lending. While we are very active in that, we have a mortgage department and a full-service trust and investment services. We are a long-term player in the community that we serve,” Vega said. “The intention with Waxahachie is to be here for the long haul and be a respected and productive member of the community.”
Vega, along with his employees, strives to make people feel welcomed as they walk through the doors. He noted that the staff has a wide range of experience to meet a person’s financial needs.
“We hope once we get there that the branch we put in place is one Waxahachie can be proud of,” Vega said. “We want a place where they know somebody and a friendly face that will provide a solution for their banking needs. Someone that they know and can relate to.”
Vega explained the senior leadership at the bank is already very active in the community and works to give back to the city that it serves.
"We already have one of our lenders on the chamber board here in Waxahachie. I am the chairman of the board for the United Way of West Ellis County. We have got a lot of our staff involved in different capacities in the community,” Vega said. “We are all residents here and we all have a vested interest in the city."
No date for the groundbreaking has been set at this time. The goal is to have the branch open by the fourth quarter of 2019. In the meantime, residents or businesses that are in need of loan services can visit the loan production office, located at 201 E. Main Street in downtown Waxahachie. Staff at the Waxahachie office can be reached at 972-923-8912.
