The Southwestern Assemblies of God University volleyball team is not only excelling on the playing court this season — the coaching staff is already hard at work inking the next class of Lady Lion standouts.

Earlier this week, SAGU head volleyball coach Hank Moore announced the signing of a 6-foot middle blocker and outside hitter, Emma Tompkins, to the 2019 class.

Tompkins currently has an impressive 222 kills with a .283-hitting percentage for Waller High School, a 5A school northwest of Houston. She has also recorded 16 blocks and 32 assists so far during her senior season for the (18-12) Lady Bulldogs.

She also played club ball with XCEL Volleyball Club out of Kingwood, also near the Houston area.

“Emma will be a great addition to our 2019 team," Moore said. "She is a great player and an even better young lady. She will be a perfect fit for our campus family. Emma is an excellent student that love Jesus. She serves in her church on the praise and worship team amount many other capacities of service to The Lord. We are very proud that she has selected SAGU as her university of choice.”
