After one of the best starts to the season in a decade, the Waxahachie tennis team will need to quickly regroup as they head into the final four matches of the district schedule.

The Indians and Lady Indians lost their first District 7-6A since jumping up from the 5A classification last Tuesday at home against Cedar Hill. Head tennis coach Nicholas Tanner noted the match was the closest of the season for the Tribe and it came against "an evenly matched Cedar Hill" side.

Waxahachie then ran into a buzzsaw Tuesday at home against (5-1, 3-0) Mansfield Lake Ridge. The Eagles, who have now won five consecutive matches, ran away with the win, 18-1. It was the most lopsided loss of the season for the Indians, who are now 4-3 on the year and 1-2 in District 7-6A.

The Tribe plays its first district road contest of the season Tuesday against Mansfield High. Waxahachie then returns home the following Tuesday to host Grand Prairie.

Both matches begin with doubles play at 3:30 p.m.
