It did not take Taylor Stoops long to earn a starting job at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith. The 2018 Waxahachie graduate and Lady Lions setter needed even less time to earn her first collegiate accolade.

The Heartland Conference announced Monday that Stoops, a freshman as UAFS, was the conference setter of the week after her performance in the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational in San Angelo.

During the tournament, Stoops averaged 9.75 assists and 2.42 digs per set. She also recorded a weekend-high 41 assists during a three-set sweep of New Mexico Highlands.

The Lady Lions begin the invitational with three-consecutive sweeps of East, Texas A&M-Kingsville and New Mexico Highlands. UAFS eventually fell to host Angelo State in three sets in the finale.

While at Waxahachie, Stoops compiled 3,291 assists and averaged 6.2 assists per set, while also recording 1,022 digs, 280 kills and 343 aces. She currently holds three Lady Indians records for aces in a season (123), assists in a match (43) and season assists (1,159).
