The Waxahachie Indian and Lady Indian tennis team fell —narrowly — for the first time at home Thursday after its best start to a season in seven years.

North Forney defeated Waxahachie in a tiebreaker to hand the Tribe its first loss in four matches this season, 10-9.

Waxahachie is now 3-1 on the young season.

"The team played hard and battle through some adversity," stated head tennis coach Nicholas Tanner. "It was a great learning experience for our young team leading into our first district match."

The loss came on the heels of the tennis team defeating Rowlett, 14-5, on the road Tuesday. It was the first road match of the season for the Tribe and moved their season record to 3-0.

Nine members of the team won both of their matches.

Waxahachie now moves into district action with a road match Tuesday against DeSoto. First serve is at 3:30 p.m. and the courts are located at 300 Eagle Drive.

The Indians then return home Tuesday, Aug. 28 to host Cedar Hill at 3:30 p.m.
