The Midlothian Chamber of Commerce kicked off its Legislative Luncheon series Wednesday at the Midlothian Conference Center with guest speaker and Ellis County judge candidate, Todd Little.
Little was scheduled to debate his Democratic opponent J.R. Phillips, at the forum, but Phillips did not attend.
Legislative committee chair Ross Weaver gave opening remarks on the candidate forums, which aim to educate and inform the chamber on political issues that affect their businesses. Weaver also handed out a survey for chamber members to submit their opinions on matters regarding economic development, transportation, infrastructure, health care and education.
Survey results will be revealed at the next Legislative Luncheon Tuesday, Aug. 22, where the chamber will host U.S. Congressional District 6 candidates Ron Wright and Jana Lynn Sanchez. The Legislative Luncheon series will conclude Aug. 29.
