The Waxahachie Indian and Lady Indian tennis teams opened their seasons Tuesdays with a pair of wins against Sulphur Springs. Both victories also came on the new home courts for WHS tennis at the newly constructed high school.

Waxahachie picked up the 11-8 win thanks to winning four-of-seven doubles matches and 7-out-of-the-12 singles contests.

Ashton Jenkins, Thaddeus Horton and Sofia Schoonveld all picked up two wins, each, on the afternoon.

The team returned to action Thursday afternoon at home against Arlington and then travels to Rowlett next Tuesday for a 3 p.m. first serve. The Tribe returns home Thursday, Aug. 16 to host North Forney at 9 a.m.
