Before the season began, head coach Sandy Faussett said her Lady Indians would "jump right in" with a formidable pre-district slate.

Well, they made quite the splash Tuesday in the season opener with a three-set sweep of Prosper, the reigning 5A state champions, 25-21, 25-19, 25-18.

The win came inside the friendly confines of the Lady Indians new home and soon-to-be-dedicated Mike Turner Gymnasium. Both schools made the jump to Class 6A during the bi-annual UIL realignment in February.

Audrey Nalls terminated a team-high 22 kills and added two blocks, while Ragan Ward, a junior and first-year starter, accounted for 32 assists.

Alli Wells led the team with 13 digs. Baylee Whitehead excelled at the service line with 11 points and added eight digs. Lacy Mott accounted for six kills, and Essence Clerkley chipped in two aces, four kills and three blocks.

The Lady Indians return to action Thursday for a three-day tournament hosted by Mansfield ISD.
