Big hair and big dreams will be the theme in historic downtown Waxahachie on Saturday with a special outdoor presentation of the movie, "Hairspray!"
The evening of free family-friendly entertainment sponsored by the Waxahachie Downtown Merchants Association begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 28. “Hairspray,” set in Baltimore in 1962, follows the adventures of teenager Tracy Turnblad, whose ambition to appear on a local TV dance show leads to her becoming an unwitting champion for equality and justice.
MADNESS Entertainment gets the evening started with music that will almost certainly have attendees dancing in the street — and who will then cool off with an icy treat from MyTee Sweet Snowcones.
"Hairspray" will begin after dark — around 9:15 p.m. — and be shown on a giant outdoor screen located on the corner of S. College and E. Franklin. Those who plan on attending are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to properly enjoy the free family fun in historic downtown Waxahachie.
