Two people were transported to area hospitals after a single vehicle collision on Tuesday.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers were dispatched at 7:40 a.m. The accident was on Farm-to-Market Road 55 about one-fourth of a mile from the Navarro County line.

Sgt. Sara Warren, Department of Public Safety Public Information Officer, stated the preliminary investigation shows that a gray 2006 Lexus RX300 was traveling north on FM 55 at the time of the accident.

“The vehicle, for an as of yet undetermined reason, drove off the right side of the roadway then overcorrected back to the left, going in the left bar ditch where the vehicle struck a culvert,” Warren said.

Warren stated this caused the vehicle to roll multiple times before coming to rest in a pasture.

The driver, 25-year-old Courtney Chambers, of Blooming Grove, was ejected from the vehicle causing her to sustain serious injuries. The front seat passenger, a 4-year-old male, was also injured.

Chambers was transported by air ambulance to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. The 4-year-old passenger was transported by air ambulance to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.

The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing at this time by DPS Troopers.
