A familiar face has joined the leadership team at Robbie E. Howard Junior High School. With two years of experience within Waxahachie ISD, Ryan Cavazos will make the transition from the principal of Waxahachie High School of Choice and Challenge Academy to Howard for the 2018-19 school year.

For Cavazos, the most appealing aspect about Waxahachie ISD and Howard Junior High is the family atmosphere.

“I have enjoyed the welcoming attitude and the willingness to work together for a common goal,” Cavazos assured. “The community involvement in the schools is also outstanding in Waxahachie and is not common in every school district.”

Cavazos said he believes every principal brings something new and inspiring to the table. He is hopeful his strengths will help maintain the history of success at Howard.

“One of my strengths is the ability to foster a comfortable and collaborative work environment,” Cavazos explained. “Every member of the Howard team should be working together to help our students succeed. I want the staff and the students to enjoy coming to Howard. My goal is to continue the excellent work that was started by the principals that came before me.”

In able to provide a productive and exceptional learning environment, it is essential that the students come first. The job revolves around placing the student on the path of success.

"If the students are the primary focus, then we will have a successful and enjoyable year," Cavazos insisted.

Once the last bell rings, Cavazos is eager to return home to his family of four. He has been married to his wife, Stephanie, for 17 years and has two daughters. Their oldest, Taylor, will be in the eighth grade at Howard and Ashlyn will be a fifth grader at Shackelford Elementary.

On Sundays, the Cavazos attend The Oaks and are sports enthusiasts with both of his girls competing on volleyball teams.

“We have built a nice circle of friends through the volleyball community,” Cavazos elaborated. “We love to watch Waxahachie High School athletics and try to attend as many games as possible. I love to read, play golf and watch movies. I am also working on my doctorate, so there isn’t much time for hobbies.”

WISD Director of Communications Jenny Bridges stated, “Mr. Cavazos has shown great campus leadership skills during his time with the district, and he was the perfect person to take on the position at Howard Junior High."
