The Red Oak White and Blue firework extravaganza is back to light up the night sky for the 12th year as friends and families from all over the area bring out their lawn chairs and coolers in celebration of this  Independence Day.

The Oaks Church will, for the fourth year in a row, host the fireworks show from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 30. The Oaks is located at 777 South Interstate 35 East.

This event began twelve years ago with the Red Oak Parks and Recreation’s permission. As for this year, Citizens National Bank of Texas, Red Oak Parks and Recreation and the Oaks Church will sponsor the extravaganza.

There will also be multiple events and activities to keep everyone entertained throughout the night.

“All of the events that are listed on the flyer, those are all new, but the firework show is going to be the same,” said Lori McGlothlin, administrative assistant for the City of Red Oak.

The new events and activities include music, food, a euro bungee (a bungee trampoline), a climbing wall, bounce houses, obstacle courses, and a dunk tank. Attendees are also encouraged to tune their radios during the show to KBEC 1390 AM to enjoy patriotic music.

In the case of bad weather, the alternative date will be Sunday, July 1st. As asked in the past, the staff has requested that attendees refrain from bringing pets, alcohol or glass containers.

“It’s a fun family event,” McGlothlin said.

The event is welcome to all ages, so be sure to invite your friends and family and bring them to something they’ll never forget!
