A modern Tai Chi program is coming to Waxahachie.

A certified wellness instructor, Judith Stuartcoale Bonner, will soon teach the art of Yang style Tai Chi. She has a background with the Institute of Integral Tai Chi and Qigong.

Anne Olivier, a licensed massage therapist, will join the workshop.

Bonner will also share a physiology video of the effects of meditative movement, which informs about the practice of action of the Eight Brocades. She will instruct how to "flow like water" with Qigong and "crouch like a tiger." The class will help with relaxation, as well as feeling free and "grounded like bamboo," explained Bonner.

The free event, which will also provide a light snack and fun, carries a $25 suggested donation.

The event is sponsored by Alexandra Asirvadam, LPC, AMA Counseling. Since space is limited, people can reserve a spot by calling or texting 214-733-4747 or by emailing alexandra@amacounseling.com.

The event is from noon—2 p.m. Saturday, June 23 at the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce building located at 102 YMCA Dr.

Weekly one-hour Tai Chi classes are scheduled to begin in August.
