A fatal accident that claimed the life of a Red Oak resident remains under investigation by Ferris Police.
Ryan Joseph, 25, lost his life after he fell out of the cab of a box truck on Tuesday.
Police officers were dispatched at about 8 p.m. to the northbound lanes of I-45 between the 266-267 mile markers.
“We are still investigating. The truck appears to be in good shape. We are not finding any indication that he was pushed,” Ferris Police investigator Walter Weiss said. “It looks like Ryan opened the door to the truck.”
Weiss stated Joseph was sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle next to his stepfather, who was driving, at the time of the incident.
Police have not found indications of a physical altercation. There were no alcohol containers or drugs found inside the cab of the truck. Also, there were no signs of any criminal activity that took place or foul play. Police examined the truck and found it to be mechanically sound.
Joyce Lindauer, Ellis County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace, was called to the scene and pronounced Joseph deceased. Lindauer ordered the body taken to the Dallas County Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy. Results from the medical examiner’s office are still pending. The investigation remains ongoing at this time.
Weiss stated the Ferris Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the Joseph family.
