Five ways to have fun this weekend.

1. In theaters this weekend is the much-anticipated sequel, “Incredibles 2” Bob Parr/Mr. Incredible (voiced by Craig T. Nelson) is left to care for Jack-Jack while Helen/Elastigirl is out saving the world; “Tag” the R-rated comedy loosely based on a true story and featuring the talents of Ed Helms, Jake Johnson, Hannibal Buress, Jon Hamm, Jeremy Renner as five highly competitive friends who risk it all one month out of every year for a no-holds-barred game of tag; and if you’re looking for action, check out “SuperFly” the rated R remake of the 1972 blaxploitation film about a career criminal who tries to get out of the Atlanta drug scene, only to have a bad deal put him in harm’s way.

2. The World Cup starts this weekend, with a full slate of games taking place until July 15. The 21st edition of the world’s greatest football tournament starts on Thursday at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium with the match between the hosts and Saudi Arabia. Go to for schedules, news and more.

3. Father’s Day is Sunday and the weekend wouldn’t be complete with a cookout of some kind, so make sure to plan one. (But let him grill the meat — he knows how he likes it.) Plan the menu with his favorite foods, set up outside if it’s nice and enjoy your time together.

4. Summer officially begins next week (on Thursday, June 21), but get an early start on celebrating the solstice with a picnic or other kind of party this weekend. If it’s supposed to be hot, make plans for a water-based event, and don’t forget the sun tea and lemonade for refreshment!

5. With kids out of school and probably looking for something to do, now is a good time to visit the library and/or a bookstore and get them loaded up on good books. Reading helps keep kids learning, and it’s fun, too. Some of summer’s hottest children’s books right now are “Square,” “We Don’t Eat Our Classmates” and “Ocean Meets Sky.” Older kids and preteens might enjoy the appropriately titled “All Summer Long” as well as “Bob” or the finale in the story of the The Penderwick siblings, “The Penderwicks at Last.”
