Sherrie O’Daniel Willis, 59, of Waxahachie, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Baylor Scott & White, Waxahachie. She was born July 18, 1958 in Dallas to Tom and Mollie Southerland Grandstaff.

Sherrie pursued a career in nursing following high school. She graduated from Vocational Nursing School at W. C. Tenery Community Hospital then proceeded to earn her Associates Degree in Nursing while working for Dr. W. H. Atkinson, M.D., General Surgeon. She also worked for many years as an R.N. O.R. Circulating Nurse at Baylor Hospital, Waxahachie. She left Baylor Hospital in 2008 to accept a position as Director of Nurses at the newly formed Waxahachie Surgery Pavilion. Before retiring her last position was as a Pre Op, RR Nurse for Dr. David Reagan, M.D., Ophthalmology.

At each and every post, Sherrie carried out her duties with great skill and integrity. She was admired by her peers for her intelligence, work ethic, and unmatched wit and sense of humor. Nursing was a true calling for her. She practiced her profession faithfully and always devoted herself to the welfare of those in her care.

Survivors include one daughter, Angela Miller; sister, Carrie Sue Grandstaff; brother Joe Paul Hocutt all of Waxahachie; niece, Brooke and husband David; nephews, Trey, Ryan and wife Marrla and Hunter and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Willis and sister, Kathy Neighbor.

To say that she will be truly missed is an understatement. She was loved deeply by family, friends and patients.

Visitation for family and friends will be 6 to 8 PM Monday, May 14, 2018 in the chapel of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home.
