Mrs. Mildred George"Lucky "Talton age 91 home to be with the Lord and Savior on May 9, 2018, in Arlington Texas. She was born on August 24, 1927, in Dallas Texas to Henry and Cleopatra "Cleo"(Dennis)George. She had two brothers Willie Lee George and Jimmy Lee George. After her mother's death when the children were very young, Lucky AND her brothers were brought up by their beloved grandmother Ms.Lidie Dennis.
In 1947 lucky married Willie Lawrence Williams and one child Vivian was born to this union. She later married Mr. Sherman Talton of Maypearl Texas and resided in the Maypearl area for most of her life.
As a child Lucky lived on Gertrude Street in a historic section of Dallas and was educated in the Dallas Public Schools. She later worked as a housekeeper in various hotels in North Dallas and later she was employed by Sears and Roebuck.
After moving to Maypearl, she became a housekeeper for Robert F and Lenora Smith as well as various members of the Smith family and others in Maypearl.
In 1959, she became a caregiver for a 3-day old Bob Smith and considered him to be her adopted son. However, she was a beloved mother too many many persons and families in Maypearl. She supported all worthy Civic and school activities in every way that she could whether serving food at fundraisers or baking her delicious pound cakes.
Lucky was the true embodiment of the Christian spirit with she generously gave to others when her family home became uninhabitable in her retirement years many members of the Maypearl area donated their skills, products, labor, and time to rebuild and refurnish her home. It was a moving gesture of love to help someone who had so freely given so much to so many.
Lucky professed love and acceptance of Jesus Christ at an early age and served him through her prayers and actions. She was an active member of the Brown's Chapel AME Church in Maypearl and shared her personal ininsestry to all denominations and persons. She is survived by her daughter Vivian Mushtaq of Arlington and her son Bob Smith of Georgetown Texas, as well as various cousin nieces and nephews and friends who are too numerous to count.
A viewing will be held at the Community Funeral Home in Waxahachie on Saturday, May 12 from noon until 3 p.m. At 3 p.m. there will be brief eulogies from her pastors and Bob and Vivian.
