The Waxahachie girls' golf team bounced back from a rough first day in the District 10-5A championship tournament to finish on the podium.
The Lady Indians finished day one in fourth place. They then shot the second-best score on day two to move into third place overall in the district tournament held at Tangle Ridge Golf Course in Grand Prairie.
Waxahachie shot 376 on the first day but improved 19 shots on the second day to shoot 357 for a total of 733.
Midlothian won the district championship with a 655 and Lake Ridge placed second with a 714.
Mansfield Legacy carded a 743, Summit an 892, and Lake Ridge White a 903.
The Lady Indians were led by sophomore Marisabel Garza who shot 90-89 and sophomore Ana Herrin who carded scores of 92-88. Both were named second-team All-District 10-5A.
Baylie Paris shot 96-89, Kate Hendrix shot 98-91, and Kayli Nash shot 102-96. Medalist Olivia Tolliver had two-day scores of 90-93.
The Lady Indians will return five of their top six players next season, as Kate Hendrix is the only senior. Hendrix has been on varsity for four years and was one of the captains this year.
