An altercation that resulted in a gunshot wounding one Red Oak man remains under investigation by police. Officers received the call at 8:12 p.m. Sunday and responded to the 500 block of Canary in Red Oak.
Red Oak Police Department Lt. Marc Schroeder stated dispatchers received multiple 911 calls from residents who reported an unknown white male had shot their neighbor. Police officers arrived on scene and secured the area for firefighters and EMS personnel to provide aid.
“The victim alleged that he became involved in an altercation with an unknown white male subject and was subsequently shot in the arm by the subject,” Schroeder said. “The victim alleged that the white male suspect fled the scene on foot.”
Schroeder stated the victim, a 51-year-old Red Oak resident, was transported to Methodist Hospital in Dallas for medical treatment. Red Oak Police personnel established a perimeter and deployed a tracking canine unit but were unable to locate the suspect. The shooting remains under investigation.
