Ferris Police arrested a San Antonio resident after a search revealed almost one pound of marijuana hidden inside a vehicle.

Joel Reyna McMinn faces a charge of possession of marijuana from the March 12 arrest.

Ferris Police Investigator Walter Weiss stated officers observed a grey Mazda traveling along Interstate Highway 45 at a high rate of speed. Officers recorded the vehicle’s speed at 83 in a 70 mile-per-hour zone. A traffic stop took place at 6:30 p.m. on I-45 near Malloy Bridge Road.

"The vehicle’s interior had a strong odor of marijuana present inside, which gave them probable cause to search the car," Weiss explained."The search found the marijuana conceded inside a hole in the trunk."

Weiss added the search also found paraphernalia inside the vehicle. McMinn was then taken into custody and booked into the Red Oak City Jail.
