In his first episcopal visitation to Saint Athanasius Anglican Church in Waxahachie, Texas, the Most Revd Thomas E Gordon received that parrish into the Orthodox Anglican Church, ordained a deacon and a priest, and confirmed five members of the parish. Gordon resides in Charlotte, NC, and he is Archbishop of the Orthodox Anglican Church and Metropolitan of the Orthodox Anglican Communion.

On Saturday, Jan. 27, Archbishop Gordon formally received Fr. William E. Mouser, Jr., the founding priest of Saint Athanasius Anglican Church, into the ranks of the clergy in the Orthodox Anglican Church. Afterwards, Gordon ordained Walker B. Davis of Ennis, Texas to the diaconate. Davis will now serve the parish as its deacon.

On Sunday, Jan. 28, Archbishop Gordon administered the sacrament of confirmation to Stuart and Cindy Mayfield, Juan Davis, Amy Howard, and Jose Vega, all of Waxahachie. Afterwards, Gordon ordained Jerry E Young of Waxahachie to the priesthood. Young had previously served the parish as its deacon since 2010.

Saint Athanasius Anglican Church was founded on May 2, 2004, by six Waxahachie households, led by Father William Mouser. The parish meets in The Francesca Chapel, 308 N. Monroe, in Waxahachie, the original home of St. Paul Episcopal Church. The Chapel is the oldest church structure in continual use for the past 131 years since it was consecrated for Anglican worship in 1887.
