The Waxahachie Indian boys' soccer team picked up its third-consecutive win Friday night at home against Red Oak to begin District 10-5A with a victory.

The win moved the Indians to 5-2 on the season and 1-0 in district play with a match against (5-4) Midlothian to be played Tuesday, Jan. 30. The Indians defeated the Panthers in a shootout, 4-3, during the Aledo tournament Jan. 13.

On Friday, Waxahachie managed four first-half goals during the 5-1 win at Stuart B. Lumpkins Stadium.

The return of several key defenders from nagging injuries allowed sophomore Jordan Beechum to move back to his natural forward position. He rewarded the transition by leading the Tribe with two goals and added one assist.

Josh Duarte, Rolando Nieto and Edgar Nava all scored one goal, each. Chris Gonzalez, Duarte and Raymond Kennedy added assists.

For Nieto, the goal Tuesday added to his team-leading six goals on the season to go with seven assists.
