Steady scoring and active defensive pressure led the Waxahachie Runnin' Indians over Mansfield Lake Ridge on the road Friday night.
The Runnin' Indians outscored the Eagles in each of the first three quarters, which included 29-14 in the first and third quarters, en route to their seventh District 10-5A win in as many tries, 58-41.
As a team, the Runnin' Indians shot 50 percent (21-42) from the field and held the Eagles to 37-percent shooting (15-40). Waxahachie shooters also converted on 11-of-14 from the charity stripe.
Larry Wise led the Runnin' Indians with 18 points on 6-of-11 (54 percent) shooting, while Qua Grant added 13 points, two steals, two rebounds and two assists.
Demani Richardson scored 8 points and grabbed three rebounds, while Tre Gipson and JT Warren both scored five points. Gipson also led the Runnin' Indians with seven rebounds and five assists.
Mekai Pope chipped in four points, CJ Noland scored three, and Steron Sturgis rounded out the scoring with two points.
Carneal Chambliss led Lake Ridge with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
The win moved Waxahachie to 19-4 on the season and 7-0 in District 10-5A. The Runnin' Indians are also a perfect 5-0 in true road games this season, excluding tournament action. Friday marked the sixth-consecutive victory for the Tribe as they head into the second half of the district schedule.
Waxahachie begins round-two of District 10-5A Tuesday on the road against Mansfield Summit. The Jaguars have yet to win a district game this season.
