The Maypearl Lady Panthers outscored host Rio Vista in all four quarters of a district basketball game Tuesday.

Maypearl led 13-5 after the first quarter and never trailed after in the 58-30 win.

The victory moved the Lady Panthers to 13-11 on the year, but, more importantly, improved them to 5-1 in the District 17-3A standings. As they head into the second half of the district slate, the Lady Panthers sit tied with (18-9, 5-1) Keene for second place.

Grandview (17-8, 6-0 in 17-3A) leads the district with a date Friday, Jan. 12 at 6:15 in Maypearl against the Lady Panthers.

Kynlee Herrin led Maypearl with 17 points, while Sol Cabuto had 15 points, and Meredith Keasler scored 14 points to go with her team-high seven rebounds and seven steals. Alyssa Holder dished out a team-high four assists and scored six points. Lillie Beason added five points and three blocks. Phylicia Grimes rounded out the scoring with one point.



Three Lady Panthers reached double figures in a 22-point win against Mildred at home Friday.

Maypearl held just a five-point lead after the first quarter and 27-18 lead headed into halftime. The Lady Panthers then outscored visiting Mildred 29-16 in the second half of the 56-34 win.

Seniors Kynlee Herrin and Meredith Keasler scored 16 and 14 points, respectively, while sophomore Sol Cabuto added 15 and 13 rebounds to finish with a double-double.

Herrin made all five the Lady Panthers' three-pointers on the evening.

Alyssa Holder scored six points. Phylicia Grimes and Lillie Beason each scored two points, and Rileyanne Malone added one.

Beason pulled down six rebounds and Keasler added five. The two led the team with two assists, each. Cabuto led the way with four steals and two blocks.

Maypearl improved to 12-11 on the season with the win and 4-1 in District 17-3A.

The Panthers returned to action Tuesday, Jan. 9.
