PLAINVIEW, Texas — The Southwestern Assemblies of God University men’s basketball team lost their second game of Sooner Athletic Conference play to Wayland Baptist University on Saturday afternoon.

SAGU now moves to 6-1 this season and 1-1 in SAC competition.

The Lions and WBU’s men battled hard with each other throughout the entire first half. SAGU finished out the first period with a 3-point lead, 42-39, over their opponents. Coming back after the half was a challenge for the Lions. The final score of the game was 80-72, with the win for Wayland Baptist.

“It was a tough loss but I’m proud of how we fought to the end. Wayland is a good team, especially at home. We competed at a high level. We need to improve in the half court on offense, but we are taking strides towards the team we want to become every day,” said SAGU head basketball coach Delton Deal.

The Lions will be back in action on Dec. 14 against Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
