DALLAS — The Ferris Yellowjackets traveled to Kincade Stadium in Dallas to take on the Lincoln tigers and a cold, cold night and upset the Tigers on their homecoming, 22-20
Ferris received the opening kickoff and the two teams then exchanged possessions twice before Lincoln quarterback Dominique Wilkerson scored on a 66-yard touchdown. The two-point conversion failed and Dallas Lincoln held a 6-0 lead early in the first quarter. The Lincoln advantage held through the first frame.
The Yellowjackets answered in the second quarter with an 87-yard drive for a touchdown capped off by a 1-yard run by Damien Edwards. Raymond Gonzalez added the two-point conversion to give Ferris an 8-6 lead.
The Yellowjackets block of Tiger field goal was recovered on the 42-yard line and the offense promptly marched down the field for a touchdown. Kobe Langford completed a pass to Matthew Nunez for 22 yards and Gustavo Martinez added the extra point for a 15-6 Ferris lead.
The Yellowjackets Raymond Gonzalez then intercepted a Dominique Wilkinson pass on Lincoln's own 36 and took it down to the 35. After a couple of penalties, Ferris was forced to punt. The 15-6 Yellowjacket lead held into the halftime locker room.
The Yellowjackets started the second half off by blocking a fourth-down punt and recovered it on their 43-yard line. Ferris then marched down the field with Damien Edwards taking the football in from five yards out, and Gustavo Martinez adds an extra point to take the lead, 22-6.
That is how the third quarter would end.
To start the fourth quarter, Waylon Jones scored on a 21-yard touchdown run, and the two-point conversion pulled the Tigers within one score, 14-22.
Lincoln later scored on a 3-yard touchdown run by quarterback Dominique Wilkerson, but the two-point conversion run was stopped with 1:38 left in the game.
The Yellowjackets recovered the ensuing onside kick attempt and ran out the clock for the 22-20 win. The win was the second district victory for Ferris.
