ENNIS — A month long investigation by Ennis Police lead to approximately 170 grams of crack cocaine being seized by officers on Friday.

The bust took place at a residence in the 1500 block of Pittsfield St when officers arrested Ennis resident Jonathan Lee Hamilton, 32 in connection with the offense.

Hamilton has been charged with the manufacture and delivery of greater than four grams but less than 200 grams of a controlled substance and the unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

“A search warrant was executed on Friday about 2 p.m. The suspect was home at the time of the search. SWAT team made entry into the house and was assisted by members of the Criminal Investigation Division,” Ennis Police Lt. Mike Hopson said “One hundred and seventy grams of crack cocaine, a pistol, video cameras that were on the house, a DVR and several cell phones were seized that contained evidence. A small amount of marijuana and some pills were also identified.”

Hopson stated that police were alerted tot he activity taking place at the residence from neighbors who had made complaints.

Hopson said Hamilton was arrested without incident and was booked into the Ennis jail. He was later transferred and booked at 8:16 p.m. on Sunday into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center in Waxahachie.

According to the detention center’s website, Hamilton has bonds totaling $27,500 and remained in custody as of 4 p.m. Tuesday.
