It has been two months since the Ellis County Judge and Commissioners appointed me as Sheriff of Ellis County. Those two months have been filled with getting to know the staff at the Sheriff’s Office, the operation and systems in place, and the strengths and needs of the agency. Of course, given the time frame, getting to know the budget as well.

I have also been going around the county meeting citizens of Ellis County. Thank you to the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office, and the citizens of Ellis County, for the tremendous support I have received during this time.

The Waxahachie Daily Light has provided this space for a weekly article from me, the Sheriff, as a way to keep you informed of things happening within the agency, and in the County. But also, to answer questions you may have. Questions, such as, why we do the things we do, or concerning the laws, or how might new laws effect our operation or any questions you might have pertaining to law enforcement at the county level. I will do my best to answer for you. You can email me your questions or topics at, or send them through the Waxahachie Daily Light.

Thank you, and stay safe.
