WAXAHACHIE — With summer in full-swing, Indian baseball head coach Tracy Wood and his staff are hosting a pair of position-specific camps next week.

Camp one is slated for June 12-14 and is split into two sessions. The three-day camp will focus on various positions and position play, base running and sliding, and proper fielding, throwing, catching and hitting techniques — including bunting. It will also teach players how to hustle, show up to the park with the proper attitude, enthusiasm, as well as how to deal with failure, be a good teammate and how to play Indian baseball "Like a Champion."

Session one is for players entering grades 2-5 and is scheduled for 9 a.m. - noon June 12-14. Session two is for players entering grades 6-9 and will run from 1 - 4 p.m.

Both sessions are being held at the Optimist Baseball Field and the cost is $85 per player, which includes a camp T-shirt.

For those aspiring to join the Indian battery, the coaching staff will hold a one-day camp for pitchers and catchers Thursday, June 15 for players entering grades 3-9. The camp will emphasize proper pitching mechanics, as well as fielding, throwing (velocity and accuracy) and catching techniques.

Cost is $35 per player and the game will be held from 9 a.m. - noon at the Optimist Baseball Field. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
