James Alexander Hancock was a young man and old soul. Humble and proud. Quiet and wise. Our friend, brother, son and colleague James Alexander Hancock began the greatest of adventures January 14, 2017. After 33 years excelling in life, he departed to explore the wonders of the universe, joining his grandparents, step-father and childhood dog Bentley to be at their side. Born to Kimberly Joy Highfill and Charles Joseph Hancock, "Alex" as he will always be known, grew up in El Paso, TX. An avid basketball player and fan, at 8-years-old he challenged a local college basketball star to a free-throw competition in his backyard. He lost 105-2, but never gave up challenging himself. While he excelled at SMU, founded a successful real estate brokerage, forged new friendships everywhere he went and was the best imaginable brother and son -- his passion lie in spirited driving of his Porsche with his Muppet of a miniature dog Arthur in the passenger seat. An honest soul with a heavenly heart and generous spirit, his unabashed selflessness is his legacy. His greatest living fans continue to be his parents, Kim and Chuck, brother Austin, dog Arthur, and a plethora of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A farewell service led by Fr. George Henninger will be held Jan 28 at Christus St. Joseph Village, 1205 E. Sandy Lake Rd, Coppell, TX at 1:15 pm, followed by a celebration of life at his home. In lieu of flowers, interested parties may contribute to: "James Alexander Hancock Memorial Fund" at Amegy Bank to benefit colon cancer research.
