WAXAHACHIE — Javier Goodin was one of 28 people indicted by the Ellis County Grand Jury on Wednesday. The 26-year-old Lancaster resident was indicted on the charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and deadly conduct discharge of a firearm.

According to the indictments, on July 22, 2016, Goodin allegedly threatened Jamie Elias with imminent bodily injury by shooting at him and exhibiting a firearm during the commission of the assault. Goodin also allegedly discharged a firearm in the direction of a habitation.

Red Oak police officers were dispatched at 9:08 p.m. on July 22, 2016, to the 400 block of Mara Lane in reference to a shots fired call.

“The reporting party advised that he heard about 5 or 6 gunshots and came running out and saw one person running away from the area and several other people getting into cars and leaving the area. Officers searched the area and located spent shell casings in the driveway and front yard of a residence,” Red Oak Police Lt. Marc Schroeder said. “Upon further investigation, it was ascertained that the female at the residence was supposed to fight another female subject that had arrived with a group of individuals. Prior to any fight, a male subject produced a weapon and fired several shots causing property damage only with no injuries to involved persons.”

Schroeder said no arrests were made at the scene and additional investigation into the incident continued for several days.

On July 26, 2016, a warrant was issued for Goodin for the charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and deadly conduct. Goodin remained at-large on the warrant until the Waxahachie Police Department arrested him Nov. 11, 2016.
