ITALY — The hunt is on, as the Italy Police Department is readying to fill warrants in connection with the theft of several firearms from a residence. The warrants stem from a Nov. 12 burglary call where police were dispatched to a home in the 700 block of Chad St.
Italy Police Chief Cameron Beckham said officers met with the victim and it was determined that several firearms were taken from the residence. The guns included a Palmetto State Armory AR-15, a Smith and Wesson .22-caliber rifle, a .410 Shotgun double barrel, a Remington pump action 20-gauge shotgun and a Browning .22-caliber 1911 style pistol.
“One of the firearms, the AR-15, was recovered on Nov. 22 within the 300 block of John Davis Road,” Beckham said. “After interviews with several students at the high school, three names were provided to us. We spoke to all three individuals and they have admitted responsibility.”
Beckham said during the interviews with the three people, the two adults and one juvenile continued to "point fingers" at each other. After the interviews, further investigation was done to determine each's involvement in the offense.
Warrants, in this case, are being filed at this time by police and will be followed by arrests.
