WAXAHACHIE — Described as a ‘tireless advocate for childhood research’ by her Sunday school teacher, Anna Day, an eighth grader at Red Oak Middle School, is hosting a bake sale to raise money for childhood cancer research.
Johnny Hopgood, Sunday School Teacher at East Ridge Baptist Church in Red Oak, said that Day’s life, along with her sister, Isabella have been affected by cancer. Isabella is currently battling childhood cancer.
“Some kids cry when this happens, she has. Some kids pray for healing, which she does all the time. But she does not stop there, she is a tireless advocate for childhood cancer research, for the kids who have it, and for those families affected by childhood cancer. Not just her own family, but those with whom she interacts,” Hopgood said.
Anna’s Bake Sale will be held Saturday, Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. — 3 p.m. at the Waxahachie Chick-fil-A.
“All of the proceeds are going to the non-profit childhood cancer research foundation, Open Hands, Overflowing Hearts. She is even paying the service charge on credit card transactions out of her own allowance,” Hopgood added.
