Its Gingerbread Trail Home Tour weekend in Waxahachie so that means lots of visitors in the downtown area.

This Saturday at the Downtown Farmers Market we are featuring our bakers. So come see the sweet treats offered at the market. At Jim’s Produce you can buy fried pies, whoopie pies and fresh baked bread including jalapeno.

WeGarden offers plants, decorative glass art, wooden cutting boards and gourmet treats. Their baked goods, featured every week include coconut-blueberry muffins, shortbread, chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal butterscotch cookies, turtle brownies, lemon bars, and double cherry oatmeal bars, all lovingly made by hand in small batches for premium quality.

Visit the weGarden booth for tasty samples of what’s baking. Pure Country Products offers a variety of sweet breads and cakes along with their homemade artisan cheeses. Again, look for samples.

Love doing your own baking? At The Yellow Farmhouse you can purchase whole grains, cornmeal and flours produced and milled on the family farm in Waxahachie. Heather will share her love of farming and using locally grown products. In addition to her grains and flours she offers bread, muffin and cookie mixes, prepackaged with full instructions. The farm also sells all cuts of beef, farmed and raised in Ellis County.

As always we have a wonderful selection of fresh vegetables, greens and other produce. Look for local greens and vegetables. Expect to see early tomatoes, summer squash and zucchini, blackberries and peaches. Purchase plants and flowers for your garden or in large decorative containers ready for your front door or backyard patio. Buy fresh, locally grown eggs and honey, handcrafted soaps, and roasted coffee. Visit with our crafters who sell beautiful handmade jewelry, custom apparel, women’s clothing, purses, custom key chains and children’s crafts. Purchase and enjoy some warm tamales, or breakfast tacos or a hot dog while you shop.

Be sure to visit the Ellis County Master Gardener booth for expert help on all your lawn, garden and landscape needs; look for their great plant of the day feature.

Saturday is Downtown Gives Back day supporting local nonprofit agencies. Be sure to support those who will be set up at the market. Also, expect a visit from Chick-fil-A offering some samples of their products.
