Mrs. Haney was born May 6, 1926, in Joshua, Texas to Ceburn and Nellie Moore. Virgie was the youngest of nine children. She spent her youth picking cotton, which she loved. She married Arvel Haney on April 10, 1943, in Alvarado, Texas. They moved to Waxahachie shortly thereafter.
