We have already had three great weeks of Waxahachie Downtown Farmers Market and this Saturday will be just as big or better.

With Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day and the downtown merchants hosting a Mimosa, Muffins and Moms event there is plenty to do in our historic downtown area. The farmers market is participating in all the activity with our own events.

Reese Kellett of LuLaRoe Ladies Clothing is hosting a fashion show with beautiful gift ideas for Mom. Enjoy a glass of Market Sangria, some sweet treats from our bakers, and activities for the kids including a bubble machine, music, sand table and tea party table.

With Mom on our mind look for beautiful potted plants and flowers to take home. Check out our handmade jewelry, cut glass art and wooden cheese and cutting boards. Our soap maker has lovely, fragrant handcrafted soap. Along the food line we offer a variety of flavorful cheeses, artisan breads, local honey, jams and jellies. How about making breakfast for mom with farm fresh eggs, homemade muffins, and roasted coffee beans.

With Cinco de Mayo being celebrated, our salsa and relish sellers are opening jars of their fiery treats for sampling. Look for fruit, verde and tomato salsa. Try samples from mild Anaheim to super-hot scorpion and ghost peppers. Take home some warm tamales or enjoy a breakfast burrito on the spot.

Thursday, May 12 is Lady’s Night Out in downtown Waxahachie with many of the local merchants open until 8:00 p.m. The market will also be open. We will have handmade soaps, jewelry, essential oils, bath and beauty items, crafts, along with produce, eggs, baked goods, preserves, salsas, jellies, flavored waters and more. So ladies and friends come visit us.

The market is open every Saturday, rain or shine, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 410 South Rogers Street, across from city hall. For information on becoming a market seller contact Anita Brown, Director of Downtown Development at 469-309-4111. Friend us on Facebook.
